Founded in 2014, the Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL), is committed to a world where data and technology serve people, society, and the planet. To make this vision a reality, we work to ensure that technology is designed, implemented, and governed to empower people in ways that foster participation, trust, and choice.

Four ways we’re doing that:

  1. Through our Africa Data Leadership Initiative, we coalesce development experts, policymakers, and government actors to share ideas, knowledge, and insights around trusted, inclusive digital transformation. These convenings have proven crucial, as the African Union recently recognized ADLI as a critical mechanism for capacity building around good data governance in Africa.
  2. During India’s 2023 G20 presidency, we served as a critical mechanism for capacity building around good data governance. knowledge partner to promote best practices around trusted, inclusive, and equitable digital public infrastructure.
  3. Our technology team explores and curates open-source digital public goods through our work on the Digital Impact Exchange. This online marketplace facilitates access to building blocks for a range of public service delivery tools and services.
  4. Through our country engagement work, we’ve helped countries fast-track their digital transformation efforts. Most recently, we partnered with leaders in Sierra Leone, helping establish a framework their national digital development policy, as well as shape the foundational policy, strategic, and technical documents that now steer the country’s digital trajectory.

From research to country engagement, our efforts promote positive digital transformation.

At the Digital Impact Alliance, we act as a thought partner, global convener, and ecosystem builder. We use our expertise to ensure policymakers, development actors, and donors have the information and tools they need to make informed choices when implementing new digital technologies, data-sharing systems, and governance models.

Primarily, we have two key areas of focus:

  1. Digital public infrastructure – understanding, measuring, and documenting its impact on people and communities.
  2. Good data exchange – identifying and promoting data-sharing models that drive positive social and economic progress.
