Nick believes in the power of sustainable and inclusive digital technology to extend good governance, as well as promote social and economic empowerment. He joined DIAL as a Fellow during the Summer of 2019, working on partnerships and the ICT4SDG program, before continuing with the organization as an Associate in April 2020.
In this role, Nick is responsible for supporting a number of projects and research opportunities for the Insights and Impact team, as well as helping to manage DIAL policy messaging and the Fellows program. He brings forth experience in academic research, business development, and nonprofit advocacy, including research work centered on trade policy and social economy. He has also worked and volunteered in several NGOs. As part of a team working to expand the Fairtrade movement in India, Nick helped expand outreach for the Fairtrade Week 2017 and license the first Fairtrade-certified coffee brand in India. This experience motivated Nick to write his graduate thesis about women’s empowerment in the Fairtrade movement in South India, and later to pursue work on inclusive digital technology for development.
Nick graduated with an MSc in Global Development from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark in 2018, and also holds a dual degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, with a BA in Political Science and a BA in History.
