In this session we will provide background on platforms and the platform economy, age-old concepts that have gained incredible strength in today’s era of internet, cloud, and mobile. We will explore the positive power of platforms—to accelerate innovation and level the playing field among innovators; the risks inherent centralized control, private ownership of public spaces, and private enterprises in the role of gatekeepers; and the necessary and often overlooked conditions for platforms to succeed in delivering positive social benefit. Moderated by DIAL’s former Senior Director of Platforms and Services, Jeff Wishnie.
